Marriage & family
Most of what we know about marriage and parenting, we learned the slow way. These are the subjects we come back to most, in our teaching and in our own home.
Marriage enrichment
Twenty years of retreats and couples' events have taught us that most marriages don't need rescuing. They need attention, honest conversation, and more intention than busy people usually give them.
Marriage in ministry
Ministry couples carry pressures most people never see. Criticism comes home with you, and the calendar belongs to everyone. We write about staying on the same side when the church needs you both.
Boundaries and family relationships
Healthy boundaries make love sustainable. We talk about where to draw lines with church, extended family, and adult children, and how to hold those lines kindly.
Parenting with purpose
Rules matter, but the relationship matters more. The goal is a child who learns to make good decisions, not one who needs you to make every decision.
Raising independent adults
The hardest change in parenting is moving from manager to adviser. We share what helped us let go well, and what we'd do differently if we did it again.
Faith at home
Faith that only shows up at church doesn't last long at home. We write about prayer, Scripture, and forgiveness in an ordinary household with ordinary arguments.
Marriage through changing seasons
Newlyweds, young parents, empty nesters, and grandparents face different questions. A good marriage keeps adjusting as life changes around it.
Notes from the Glass House
Our recurring series on marriage in public life, including "What we'd tell ourselves at year five." It arrives first in our monthly letter.
Articles are on the way
We're writing the first pieces now. If you'd like them when they're ready, join our monthly letter. It comes from both of us, and you can leave it any time.
For parents right now
Our book, Guardrail Parenting, is the fullest version of what we've learned about raising kids and launching them into adulthood.
For your church or event
We teach on all of these subjects at retreats, conferences, and church gatherings.
